CORE Units:

Manage human resources services (BSBHRM501 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan, oversee and deliver human resources services. It is not specific to any given human resources function and deals with the coordination of services and approaches. This unit takes an overview of human resources services and includes business ethics.

Manage recruitment selection and induction processes (BSBHRM506 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage all aspects of the recruitment selection and induction processes in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Develop and manage performance-management processes (BSBHRM512 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to design, implement and oversee performance-management processes. The unit also includes specific intervention associated with under-performance or misconduct and developing approaches to address skill and performance gaps.

Manage workforce planning (BSBHRM513 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan workforce strategies to achieve organisational goals and objectives. It includes assessing factors that may affect the supply of workers, aligning workforce objectives with business plans, and designing strategies and succession plans to ensure a competent and appropriately diverse workforce is available to meet anticipated changes. The unit covers the research associated with labour markets and the requirement to match organisational needs with employee skills and commitment.

Manage employee relations (BSBWRK520 – 80 nom hours)
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage employee and industrial relations matters in an organisation. It involves developing and implementing employee and industrial relations policies and plans and managing conflict resolution negotiations.

Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements (BSBWHS401 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor the organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in order to meet legislative requirements.

Manage diversity in the workplace (BSBDIV501 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage diversity in the workplace. It covers implementing the organisation’s policy on diversity, fostering diversity within the work team, and promoting the benefits of a diverse workplace.

Manage budgets and financial plans (BSBFIM501 – 70 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation. This includes planning and implementing financial management approaches, supporting team members whose role involves aspects of financial operations, monitoring and controlling finances, and reviewing and evaluating effectiveness of financial management processes in line with the financial objectives of the work team and the organisation.

Manage remuneration and employee benefits (BSBHRM505 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement an organisation’s remuneration and benefit plans. It incorporates all functions associated with remuneration, including packaging, salary benchmarking, market rate reviews, bonuses and the legislative aspects of remuneration and employee benefits.

Manage separation or termination (BSBHRM507 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to deal with redeployment, resignation, retirement, dismissal and redundancy, including the conduct of exit interviews.

Manage rehabilitation or return to work programs (BSBHRM509 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to process and analyse both workers compensation and sick leave claims. It also covers the establishment of rehabilitation needs and return to work programs, and their monitoring, ongoing review and evaluation.

Manage mediation processes (BSBHRM510 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and review guidelines and procedures for mediation within an organisation, or on behalf of an organisation.

Manage programs that promote personal effectiveness (BSBLED502 – 60 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage programs within a health and wellbeing focus. The unit addresses the management of the range of programs that would typically be associated with health and wellbeing such as stress management, smoking cessation, exercise, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).

Manage people performance (BSBMGT502 – 70 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management.

Develop workplace policy and procedures for sustainability (BSBSUS501 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and implement a workplace sustainability policy, including the modification of the policy to suit changed circumstances. This unit requires the ability to access industry information, applicable legislative and occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.

Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining WHS management systems (BSBWHS506 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to the development and implementation of elements of a work health and safety management system (WHSMS).
