This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in a range of support positions in human resources management. In smaller companies they may work across all human resources functional areas and in larger companies they may be assigned responsibilities in units or business areas focused on discrete human resources functions, such as remuneration, workforce planning or human resources information systems.

CORE UNIT

Support performance management process (BSBHRM403 – 40 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist in the effective implementation of a performance-management system and to facilitate employee performance.

Review human resources functions (BSBHRM404 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake research that supports work across a range of human resources functional areas. This is a foundation unit for any person wishing to pursue competency in human resources and provides a sound basis for working across various human resources functional areas. The unit involves broad knowledge of human resources functions, associated policy frameworks, and the administrative requirements to support these functions and policies.

Support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff (BSBHRM405 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to execute tasks associated with the recruitment cycle. Performance of the work described in this unit will be underpinned by in-depth knowledge of the work of the organisation, and how recruitment and selection practices fit with other human resources functions.

Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements (BSBWHS401 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor the organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in order to meet legislative requirements.

Establish effective workplace relationships (BSBWOR401 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to collect, analyse and communicate information and to use that information to develop and maintain effective working relationships and networks, with particular regard to communication and representation.

Support employee and industrial relations procedures (BSBWRK411 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work with employee and industrial relations policies and procedures. The unit covers communicating and implementing employee relations policies and procedures that meet statutory and legislative requirements, assisting in dealing with employee relations conflicts and issues, and generally working towards a harmonious industrial relations climate in the workplace.

Organise meetings (BSBADM405 – 20 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to organise meetings including making arrangements, liaising with participants, and developing and distributing meeting related documentation.

Make a presentation (BSBCMM401 – 30 nom hours)
This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare, deliver and review a presentation to a target audience.

Design and develop complex text documents (BSBITU401 – 100 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to design and develop business documents using complex technical features of word processing software.

Design and use complex spreadsheets (BSBITU402 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use spreadsheet software to complete business tasks and to produce complex documents.

Implement workplace information system (BSBINM401 – 40 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement the workplace information system. It involves the identification, acquisition, initial analysis and use of appropriate information, which plays a significant part in the organisation’s effectiveness.

Develop teams and individuals (BSBLED401 – 40 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to determine individual and team development needs and to facilitate the development of the workgroup.

Establish networks (BSBREL401 – 35 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and maintain effective work relationships and networks. It covers the relationship building and negotiation skills required by workers within an organisation as well as freelance or contract workers.

Analyse and present research information (BSBRES401 – 40 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to gather, organise and present workplace information using available systems.

Promote team effectiveness (BSBWOR402 – 50 nom hours)
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to promote teamwork. It involves developing team plans to meet expected outcomes, leading the work team, and proactively working with the management of the organisation.
